  1. > **Opinion: Bitcoin is close to becoming worthless.**

At same time, a story on CNN reads:

    > **Opinion: Bitcoin could double all time high in 2019.**

Conclusion: Nobody knows a damn thing.

  2. That article in particular is being pushed pretty heavily. I feel bad for people that believe such obvious manipulation of public sentiment

  5. I get the same from my family. Thy are always asking about bitcoin “crashing”. I usually just respond that it’s a long term investment and this market cycle has happened 5 times in 10 years and is not surprising. Don’t worry, next massive bull run, they will all be asking about how much money you are making and how to get in

  6. My response has always been:

“I am following things much more closely than you are. If there is any important news that I should see, by the time you find it, I will have already read it.”

My brain automatically translates these headlines into “Nine out of Ten Bankers Polled Desperately Hope this New Technology Poised to Disintermediate them Fails.”

See also: “Nine out of Ten Taxi Drivers Desperately Hope the Government Suddenly Changes it’s Mind and Regulates Uber out of Existence.”

  9. Market sentiment is extremely negative, and it pushes prices down for sustained periods. These are accumulation opportunities. I’ve lowered my average purchase price significantly and am now break even at $4200. I’ve moved all bitcoin out of coinbase and plan to hold them long term for at least 5 years.

  10. Yeah this article is wrong though. Northern Mining company in Norway or something is mining BTC for $2700. There are others and they are even cheaper.

  11. They did the same for me. In response, I started to reply with Bitcoin/crypto meme’s. Eventually they got bored and stopped.

  12. Every time a family member tells me bitcoin is a bubble I reply: “Ofcourse it is.”

What I don’t tell them is how tiny the global market cap still is compared to other markets and how much potential for growth there is left.

I’ve been doing very well with
    – buying when everyone is telling me to sell
    – selling when everyone wants to join in
    – not investing more than I feel comfortable with into something that I recognize as being a very volatile and risky asset.

  13. In the past 8 years Bitcoin has been pronounced dead or dying by countless economists, financial journalists, government officials, and central bank officials.

In those same 8 years, Bitcoin has rapidly gained market share against competing currencies.

Perhaps we are not seeing the death of Bitcoin but rather the death of every currency that is not Bitcoin. This is necessarily a volatile process which can easily be mistaken by the uninitiated and uninformed.

  15. How toxic of some people to point out the negative.
At least, according to the law of attraction, not to be pety, they too shall live a negative life.

I can tell you have a bulletproof mentality. I hope for the best for you.

  16. Bitcoin *was* supposed to be a usable currency. **It was never intended to be an investment.** It will honestly be quite good if it goes back to a dollar or two so people can actually use it.

  17. This would infuriate me.

Rest assured these same people will be strangely quiet when things turn around, as they have 100x before.

But then you’ll be considered a jerk to rub it in their faces over and over.

I hope you’ll do it anyway.

Send them article screen caps relentlessly when that happens.

In fact why don’t you start sending them positive article screen caps right now and say nothing? Just to show them that they are cherry picking their news.

  19. The words “worthless” and “death spiral” making big headlines are a sign to me that this may be the best opportunity we have to buy for a long time. One of my favorite financial guy’s quotes is “wait to buy until there is blood in the streets.” So basically yeah, when most investors have all but given up hope.

  21. I’ve started responding with Onion or Clickhole articles about things they like. I don’t know why people feel compelled to share articles with me, especially if they’re negative OPINION pieces. If it has actual analysis I’m not as salty.

  27. Im not in bitcoin for the opinions, but for the math. This is also why im not in ethereum. The controlled supply rate of bitcoin will soon be lower than the ever increasing supply rate of fiat world wide. As soon as sentiment changes again, my belief is that the math will work out to make 20k per coin look cheap.

21 MM bitcoin will ever be made, and anyone with an ounce of financial sense should be fighting to own at least 1 full coin.

  28. Fact: Your family only know about your crypto holdings and interest because you ranted on to them about it during the boom telling them they should get on.

So if you have been spewing positive propaganda about crypto/bitcoin during the boom times then you have to expect to have negative news/stories come back to you during negative times.

Y’all here like ‘c’mon mum this is a long term investment’ but this time last year you were ranting on about it and the gains you’d made to everyone who would listen.

    Reap what you sow.

  29. The headline of that article is such a crock of bullshit. The writer should be fired on the spot.

And the dumb fucks who believe this nonsense all deserve to remain poor when crypto really takes hold.

Stupidity does not earn sympathy from me.

  30. I would just reply “OMG thanks for caring about me, I’m going to sell everything!”

and then respond back to the person when bitcoin hit 20k again and say “Opinion : Don’t listen to mainstream media”

  31. Bitcoin is the worlds, no one owns it, there is no ICO or driving force behind it. We the people finally have a currency outside of government manipulation that is the digital equivalent of cash. Colleges are teaching it, exchanges are building their lives and retirement around it…
