  4. This is madness. We need protocol developers and people (presumably having talent) hack or buy hacked accounts for scam… SAD!

  5. This isn’t something new, I saw some verified Twitter scam accounts like 2-3 months ago as well. I don’t know how they get them verified.

  6. How does verification work? What evidence could the scammer possibly have provided to Twitter to convince them that they are the potus?

  7. I don’t understand how people don’t get that this cannot and won’t be stopped. This is only going to get worse! Everything is for sale. You can buy accounts all over the web for cheap and only half of the world’s population is online.

  10. Pyramid scams work at first, for those who get in early enough, that’s the rub. I just cleaned out some old bookmarks and found a couple I had in there, made out like a bandit imo, though I know the ones running it truly did when they folded up and ran. I got lucky back then, plain and simple.

Unless you absolutely know you’re getting in early, assume you’re not and don’t do it.

  11. we are worried about a few btc that are scammed via twitter?

and yet, coinbase.com scams thousands of users out of millions (via insider trading on their roll out of bitcoin cash) and nobody does anything

    LOL

just my (personal) opinion, but it does seem like our priorities are out of wack.

  12. My Twitter account has over 300k followers, I’ve seen scammer accounts using my info and picture for the same airdrop scams. People have massaged me to let me know also. I tried 3 times in 2017 to be verified….. nada. But they will verify the scammers.

  13. To the scammer’s credit, people who believe Trump’s bullshit will likely believe this is real too. They know how to find self selected marks.

  14. My friend used to do this when crypto was just getting hot back in maybe 2016. He set up a “bitcoin” generator where you had to send him a small amount and he would send a large amount back. The idea was to get enough people to leave comments saying that it worked and then he was going to keep whatever people sent him after that.

  16. See, what happens is that they take over a verified person’s account. Change the name and picture, then they are still verified.

  20. I once looked up such a bitcoin address that they want the people to send the bitcoin/eth to.

And there were like 500.000$ on there… and an ongoing stream of small additions

    Are people REALLY this stupid?
